Weekly Report 2/2/18
This week we met to actually order some parts. We ordered the floor pump, inflatable seat for bladder, and the hand/foot pump from online. We tried to order everything else as well but the shipping was roughly an extra $10, so we are going to the store this weekend, probably Saturday, to get the rest such as tubing, rubber, and valves. We also updated our website with the last 3 weekly updates, the last presentation, and a few tweaks to our scope from the last paper.
Additionally, we came up with an outline for our verification plan. It is below:
Spec: size
Verification: measure with ruler
Spec: weight
Verification: measure with scale
Spec: ease of use
Verification: ask random people to use prototype with a set of instructions; at least 90% of individuals must be able to use the prototype without asking any questions
Spec: material stress/strain
Verification: place 182 kg onto the system and see how long it lasts. Weights will be used from the weight room
Spec: material cost
Verification: look up prices for individual pieces/materials that were used in the prototype and sum the total cost
Spec: fabrication time
Verification: call industry professional for quote
Spec: material flex
Verification: use a ruler to measure flex while the system is under stress/strain of 182 kg
Spec: test time
Verification: place stress/strain onto system for 26 continuous hours and re-measure all specifications
Spec: storage
Verification: use a ruler to measure prototype in its smallest/compressed state
Spec: adjustability
Verification: test prototype on a variety of car types
Spec: operation time
Verification: time the random users mentioned previously; also time ourselves when using prototype
Spec: user stress/strain
Verification: Use Widder’s lab to get EMG recordings of quadriceps during STS with and without our device
